Get to know Alun

Alun was born in the historic town of Llantwit Major. On leaving school he studied fine art at the Howard Gardens Faculty of Art and Design in Cardiff, tutored by some of South Wales leading artists.

He takes inspiration from the natural environment; being privileged to live and work on the Glamorgan Heritage Coastline has allowed him to capture the very essence that embodies its wild untameable character, its changeable and uncompromising weather conditions and the atmospherics that accompany these fluctuations. Many of his compositions come from memory, trying to capture the mood rather than replicate the scene. A secondary but by no means lesser interest is his love, understanding and respect for wildlife; which is in abundance if you have the knowledge and patience to observe.

Apart from numerous private commissions both locally and abroad, he has exhibited in galleries in Falmouth, St. Just and numerous South Wales galleries.

Payment and Framing Details

Giclée printing is essentially digital inkjet printing - using high quality pigment inks on archival grade paper. Giclée printing has become a convenient method for artists to produce museum quality prints of their work on demand.

The latest pigment inks and substrates have vastly extended the longevity of giclée prints allowing them to become art objects in their own right, making them collectable for museums and galleries. Under normal lighting conditions the archival inks used in these prints will remain stable for at least 75 years or more.
